The new Aylsham Church app has been specially designed by local IT firm Norfolk Geeks to bring our 14th Century building alive for a 21st Century visitor. The App can be downloaded to smart phones and tablets and gives visitors information about the life and worship of the Church as well as detailed information about the building and its stunning array of features. The App is designed to be user friendly using images to help people to ‘virtually’ tour the Church and to find out what’s happening at our busy Parish Church in the middle of our thriving community. The App which is free to download is just part of Aylsham Parish Church’s technical developments which started with the free internet access provided by WiSpire. Last year Aylsham Parish Church hosted Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber and BBC Songs of Praise as they spoke about how rural Churches have a vital role to play in providing fast rural broadband.

Revd Canon Andrew Beane, Team Rector of Aylsham said “The App is just beginning of our digital developments. We already have an interactive tour around the Church using QR codes, a really popular Facebook Page (www.facebook.com/AylshamParishChurch) with over 650 likes, and a Twitter account with near 1000 followers. The App will also be developed thanks to a Grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund to provide a tour for those with a visual impairment. Technology is a wonderful tool and something the Church can use to share our message of Good News. Just recently we even streamed live a Baptism to family members in the USA who were unable to be at the service! We hope the App will encourage visitors and local people to come and explore the church and find out more about our fascinating heritage and the services we offer to the community”

The App has been developed by Aylsham Parish Church with Norfolk Geeks, an Aylsham based developer that has developed a wide range of acclaimed apps for local business and organisations and will soon be releasing an App for the whole Town. We are also hoping that other churches can use our format to develop their own apps.
