This is the first in a series of recitals throughout 2019 which will showcase established artistes and the up and coming generation of young talent.
For this recital, we welcome Geoffrey Morgan from the West Country who will present a programme of organ favourites, including works by Bach, Mendelssohn, Handel, Frank Bridge and Mozart.
On leaving school, Geoffrey served an apprenticeship in organ building, then went to Trinity College of Music and, by the age of 21, he was playing regularly in concerts at the Albert Hall and London's South Bank. There followed study with Flor Peeters in Belgium and then an organ scholarship to Magdalen College, Oxford. He went on to become Assistant Organist at Westminster Abbey under Simon Preston and played for the 1986 Royal Wedding. 10 years later found him as visiting Professor of Organ at Yale in the USA and in 1989 Sub Organist at Guildford Cathedral. Since 2002 he has been organist at Christchurch Priory and has combined this with international recital work in Europe, Scandinavia, Australia and the USA.
He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Organists and of Trinity College of Music. In 2006 his services to church music were recognised with the award of an Honorary Fellowship of the Guild of Church Musicians
