St. Mary’s, Itteringham is in a small village which has a very popular shop: a much-used stopping place for cyclists – and others – wanting coffee, other drinks and goodies. There is also a pub. The church itself is simple, but has box pews and poppy heads. A curiosity is to be seen from the outside: a ruined 15th century guild chapel, with a memorial urn in the middle. The poet George Barker (1913-1991) is buried in the graveyard.
