Aylsham Parish Church is a fine church of medieval origins at the heart of the market town of Aylsham in Norfolk. This Grade I listed church was built in the 14th century and is home to many treasures such as the beautifully carved and painted medieval rood screen and the Lady Chapel dedicated to the Virgin Mary and providing a welcoming space for prayer and quiet contemplation.

Our church building is a wonderful venue for a concert or an art exhibition, it lends itself well to being a place for children’s activity events and for coffee mornings supporting local charitable causes. It fills with music and prayer on a Sunday morning or when we gather for a wedding or a funeral or a Christening. Contrast that to the times when you set foot inside the building and you find that you are alone! The architecture of the building somehow embraces you, makes you feel small and even vulnerable. The silence and the stillness is contained by the walls and you find that there is peace and calm. Take a moment to sit and be still and you might discover a new inner peace. For you it might be a time for prayer or it might just be for stillness.
At Aylsham Parish Church the Lady Chapel is available for private prayer each day. We are open seven days a week, between 9am and 5pm, except during periods when services are being held or events taking place. You might like to light a candle or leave a prayer request in the chapel so that we might support you through prayer in the coming days.
