St. Andrew’s, Wickmere is a goodly distance from the Village of Wickmere itself. And that seems to be just a row of houses! The church has a round tower, a reredos, glorious windows, and a wealth of memorials to the Walpole family. Of especial interest must be the tomb of the fifth Earl of Orford, complete with goat and angels. Headless figures in the chancel, saints in the rood screen dado, and a medieval minstrel strumming a lute on a bench end are worth a second glance!
